151 – It’s Like Cinderella

Sorry it’s a few hours late folks. Oppressive heat has kicked in here and it’s made me a little bit zombified. Hey if you’re not doing anything head over to Monstar and show Jacen some love.  He’s not only a great bloke who said some lovely things about me on the weekend his strip is bloody hilarious!

Great art visual and imagination, but the storyplots and jokes need work.
The art and imagination wins, the storyplots and jokes lose.
Your characters step on the stage, but have no idea what to do next.
This cannot hold an audience, if they have nothing to read.

Thanks for the feedback Luisa, I hope the next few pages change your mind on our little story, it’s really starting to come all together. Think of this chapter as act one of a film. you can’t get into the action until all the players have been introduced. I popped over to check out some of your stuff. It’s nice, there’s definitely a feel of old comics about it, the visual thematics as well as the storytelling seems torn straight from a 1930s funny page.

Hi Luisa, thanks for having a look around! How interesting that you’d prefer us to ramp up the jokes – we spent the first hundred and something strips doing gag-a-day. It’s not the style I prefer to write, so the current Sawbones story is adventure focused and not so much with the jokes. I’m cultivating a light feel to proceedings but not, as you so rightly note, relying so much on punchlines. Glad you appreciate Trev’s art, too, I know I do!
